PET (Physical Efficiency Test)

Male candidates only

(a) 100 meters race in 16 seconds
(b) 1.6 Kms race in 6.5 minutes
(c) Long Jump : 3.65 metres in 3 chances
(d) High Jump : 1.2 metres in 3 chances
(e) Shot put (16 Lbs): 4.5 metres in 3 chance

Female candidates only

(a) 100 metres race in 18 seconds
(b) 800 metres race in 4 minutes
(c)Long Jump: 2.7 metres (9 feet) in 3 chances.
(d) High Jump : 0.9 metres (3 feet) in 3 chances.

Medical Standard (For all Posts)

Eye sight : The minimum distant vision should be 6/6 and 6/9 of two eyes without correction i.e. without
wearing of glasses.
(1) The candidate must not have knock knee, flat foot, varicose vein or squint in eyes and they should
possess high colour vision.
(2) They must be in good mental and bodily health and free from any physical defect likely to

Weight : Corresponding to height for all posts.

Medical Examination : All the candidates who qualify in the PET will be medically examined by the
Medical Officer of the CAPFs or any other Medical Officer or Assistant Surgeon belonging to Grade I of any
Central/ State Govt. Hospital or Dispensary. Candidates who are found to be unfit, will be informed of the
position and they can make an appeal before Review Medical Board within the prescribed time limit of 15
days. Decision of Re-Medical Board/ Review Medical Board will be final and no appeal/ representation against
the decision of the Re-Medical Board / Review Medical Board will be entertained.
Finally selected candidates for the posts of Sub-Inspector and Assistant Sub-Inspector would, as
part of training curriculum, have to pass seven obstacle events as mentioned below, failing
which they may not be retained in the Force:

  1.  Jumping over the Vertical Board;
  2.  Holding the rope on jumping from the Board.
  3. Tarzan Swing;
  4.  Jumping on the Horizontal Board;
  5. Parallel Rope;
  6. Monkey Crawl;
  7. Vertical Rope.

It is noticed that during medical examination, the candidates having ‘tattoos’ in various parts of their
body are appearing for medical examination. In this regard, Ministry of Home Affairs vide its letters No.I-
45020/7/2012/Pers-II dated 12.01.2017 and 30-01-2017 issued the following guidelines regarding
candidates having tattoos applying for SI in Delhi Police, CAPFs and CISF examination :

  • (a) Content: Being a secular country, the religious sentiments of our countrymen are to be respected
    and thus, tattoos depicting religious symbol or figures and the name, as followed in Indian Army are
    to be permitted.
  • (b) Location: Tattoos marked on traditional sites of the body like inner aspect of forearm but only left
    forearm, being non saluting limb or dorsum of the hands are to be allowed.
  • (c) Size: Size must be less than ¼ of the particular part (Elbow or Hand) of the body.

 

 

SSC (Combined Graduate Level)

(A) Physical standards for the post of  Inspector (Central Excise/Examiner/
Preventive Officer/Inspector & Sub-Inspector in CBN):

Male Candidates:

(i) Physical Standards:
Height 157.5 cms.
Height relaxable by 5 cms. In the case of Garhwalis, Assamese, Gorkhas and members of Scheduled Tribes.
Chest 81 cms. (fully expanded with a minimum expanses of 5 cms.)
(ii) Physical Test :
Walking : 1600 metres in 15 minutes.
Cycling : 8 Kms. In 30 minutes.

Female Candidates:

(i) Physical standards (Minimum):
Height 152 cms. (Height relaxable by 2.5 cms.)
Weight 48 Kgs. (Weight by 2 Kgs. for Gorkhas, Garhwalis, Assamese and Members of Scheduled Tribes)
(ii) Physical Test :
Walking : 1 Km. in 20 minutes.
Cycling : 3 Kms. in 25 minutes.
Note : For the post of Inspector Central Excise, Examiner and Preventive Officer, as per CBEC’s letter
No. C-18013/23/2013-Ad II B dated 20.11.2013, persons with disabilities will have to meet the physical
standards i.e. Height, Chest and Weight prescribed for the post of Inspectors, Central Excise, Examiner and
Preventive Officer in CBEC. However, for orthopedically disabled candidates the following relaxation in Physical
Test is allowed:
(a) The test of “Walking” shall not be insisted in case of OL and OAL categories.
(b) The test of “Cycling” shall not be insisted in case of OA, OL and OAL categories.

(B) : Physical standards for the Post of Sub-Inspector in Central Bureau of Investigation:

(a) Height
For men 165 cms.
For women – 150 cms.
Height relaxable for Hillsmen and Tribals : 5 cms.
(b) Chest :
76 cms. with expansion (There shall be no such requirement in case of female candidates)
(c) Vision :
Eye-sight (with or without glasses)
Distant vision : 6/6 in one and 6/9 in the other eye.
Near vision 0.6 in one eye and 0.8 in other eye.

(C) : Physical standards for the Post of Sub-Inspector in National Investigation Agency:

(a) Height
For men – 170 cms.
For women – 150 cms.
Height relaxable for Hillsmen and Tribals : 5 cms.
(b) Chest :
76 cms. with expansion (There shall be no such requirement in case of female candidates)
